Extensive laboratory work-up was performed and serum assays showed low C3 and C4complement fraction, presence of anti-P ribosomal, positive anti SSA (276ua/ml) andANA (1/160) as well as lymphopenia and thrombocytopenia, clear signs of active SLE.A diagnosis of limbic encephalitis and active SLE was then reached. This evidence concerns the gene OCA2 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
