APOE and dementia: There are many controversial studies that have analyzed the risk factors associated with MCI and dementia, such as increased age, gender, educational level, family history, and the APOE genotype.15-18 Also, cardiovascular risk factors, especially in the middle-aged population, can decrease and change during the course of dementia if controlled.19-24 Our study aims to determine the prevalence of, and the demographic risk factors associated with, MCI and dementia in a sample of the adult population older than 50 years living in different locations of Bogotá.
