A recent study on subclinical atherosclerosis that conducted a exome-wide association analysis, reported two SNPs–rs7412 in the apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene and rs143873045 in the KN Motif and Ankyrin Repeat Domains 2 (KANK2) gene that were found significantly associated with cCIMT among HIV-negative Blacks [19]. Here, APOE is linked to atherosclerosis.
