The ICP is associated with the rise of serum bile acid levels to ≥10 μmol/L.7-10 Although there is no concensus on cut-off value, most studies for ICP define the upper limit of normal serum bile acid level as 10 μmol/L.7, 11 We defined ICP as having pruritus without a rash, together with raised level of serum bile acids (10 μmol/L) and/or raised level of serum ALT (> 40 U/L) in this study. The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is Pruritus.
