In the study of Saibeni et al,18 which was conducted with 232 patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) (124 ulcerative colitis, 108 Cohn’s disease) and 99 controls, it was shown that ACE I/D polymorphism was not related with IBD, but the frequency of extrarenal involvement was increased in D allele carriers with ulcerative colitis. This evidence concerns the gene ACE and inflammatory bowel disease.
