Lee et al. have validated that, when compared with normal cell lines and tissues, the expression of MALAT1 is significantly elevated in various gastric cancer cell lines as well as gastric cancer tissues, and MALAT1 is involved in gastric tumorigenesis by inhibiting cell apoptosis and promoting cell invasiveness via the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition [12]. This evidence concerns the gene MALAT1 and gastric cancer.
