Indeed, no differences in the growth rates and in survival were observed between the wild-type and the gadB/C- and glsA-mutant strains (i.e., without Gad- or AR2_Q-systems) of B. microti in vitro in TS medium, under intermediate acid stress (GMM medium at pH 4.5) and during experimental host cell infection (Occhialini et al., 2012 and Supplementary Figure S3). The gene discussed is GAD1; the disease is infection.
