GPT and infection: Therefore, we hypothesize that increased γ-GTP activity is higher than ALT activity because: a) the increase of γ-GTP activity can be due to liver damage associated with bile duct injury, probably due to the parasite load that was administered at a specific site through intrahepatic puncture, unlike an intraportal infection; b) γ-GTP is increased to favor oxidative stress by generating ROS; and c) γ-GTP is induced as part of the antioxidant response to oxidative stress induced by the amebic infection.
