SOX2 and neoplasm: We have previously shown that the expression of a degradation-resistant form of β-catenin in Rathke’s pouch, the embryonic primordium of the anterior pituitary gland (Hesx1Cre/+;Ctnnb1lox(ex3)/+ mice)27, or in Sox2+ adult pituitary stem cells (Sox2CreERT2/+; Ctnnb1lox(ex3)/+ mice)28 leads to the formation of tumours that resemble human adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP).
