Chronic feeding on a HCD caused obesity in Ptprg−/− and Ptprg+/+ mice as their body weight, fat mass, and circulating level of the adipocytes-secreted hormone leptin were all significantly higher compared to their genetically-matched STD-fed controls; of note, in both feeding conditions lack of PTPR-γ did not alter these parameters (Supplementary Fig. 2a–c). This evidence concerns the gene LEP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
