NSD2 and laryngeal neoplasm: While other studies1, 3, 4, 8 have cataloged distinct prognostic molecular features for HPV + and oral tumors, this work for the first time distinguishes molecular subclasses of laryngeal tumors with markedly different prognosis, with a positive outcome specifically associated with mutation of NSD1 and NSD2. This classification markedly differs from earlier TCGA analyses, which segregated laryngeal tumors into non-prognostic “classical” and “atypical” subclasses lacking the separation of NSD18 (Fig. 6; Table 2).
