Recently, four isoforms (NOX1, 2, 4, and 5) of NADPH oxidases were discovered in vascular cells and have been shown to play a leading role in various physiological processes, including endothelial function, vascular tone, and vessel generation, as well as in vascular pathological conditions such as hypertension and stroke [45,46]. This evidence concerns the gene NOX1 and hypertensive disorder.
