In more recent experiments conducted in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, in addition to direct binding to P-glycoprotein and HPK2 binding, it was demonstrated that the inhibitory effect of miR-27a on P-glycoprotein may also be partially attributed to upstream modulation of the β-catenin pathway through direct binding of SFRP1 and potentially through FZD7 as well (172, 175). This evidence concerns the gene ABCB1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
