Recently, Ogle et al. introduced an imaging flow cytometry method, using cytokeratin and EpCAM amongst other markers, and demonstrated a significant association with tumor size, portal vein thrombosis, and ultimately with overall survival in a heterogenic patient cohort, including mainly patients with systemic HCC in BCLC stage C (70%) [18]. The gene discussed is EPCAM; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
