The NKp44 has unique features of several occasions including (1) its expression is closed to active NKs authoritative to initiate an immediate cytotoxic response (42), (2) its expression is responsible for killing of many tumor cells and also results in the release of cytotoxic granules, IFNγ, and TNFα (43), (3) it is also expressed on a subset of IFN-producing cells located in mucosal-associated lymphoid tissues (44).
