Apart from its role in regulating biological behavior of normal cells, members of the notch family (Notch1, Notch2, Notch3 and Notch4 receptors) has also been reported to induce several types of cancer and might be considered as a potential therapeutic target in oncology.23, 24 In our previous study we demonstrated that Notch4 was upregulated in the late stages of OSCC suggesting it as a potential metastatic marker.12 The gene discussed is NOTCH2; the disease is cancer.
