A randomized controlled trial showed that among 62 high-risk breast cancer patients receiving prophylactic cranial irradiation with 24 Gy in 10 fractions over 2 weeks, none developed BMs, but 6.4% of patients in the no prophylactic cranial irradiation arm developed BMs.[37] Thus, our results suggest different strategies of dose modulation of radiotherapy (whole brain coverage for triple-negative vs posterior circulation territories for HER2+ and luminal type). This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and breast cancer.
