Although exposure to WCE significantly impaired the cell proliferation in all these PCa cell lines as determined by BrdU incorporation assay, WCE had a more profound proapoptotic effect (caspase 3 activation) in 22Rv1 and LNCaP cells than in PC-3 and DU145; where the apoptotic cell populations were 25–45% vs. below 4–5%, respectively, in the presence of 25 μg/mL high-dose WCE (Fig. 1b–d). The gene discussed is CASP3; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
