Poor transformation of the distal wing domain could be overcome by manipulating different characteristic features of the distal wing, such as by loss of wing fate (Khan et al., 2013), or by disrupting tissue architecture (Bielmeier et al., 2016; Tamori et al., 2016) or levels of Myc (Froldi et al., 2010).We have chosen to test two selectors, Ubx and Ey, because their homologs are deregulated in human cancers, for their capacities to induced neoplastic transform of imaginal disc epithelial cells in cooperation with loss of the tumor suppressor, Lgl.
