ATG7 and colorectal cancer: Assessment of autophagy markers such as the microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 in its processed form, LC-3II, and the autophagy related gene 7, Atg7, as well as Beclin-1 levels, which were consistently overexpressed in colorectal cancer cells treated with HT-cetuximab combination relative to control and single agent treatment (Figure 9A and B), provided evidence that autophagy contributes to the anti-proliferative activities and apoptotic events described above.
