Based on our finding that loss of HIF-1α in T cells leads to decreased T cell infiltration and alterations in tumor vascularization, and given the high levels of VEGF-A produced by CD8+ T cells, we investigated the correlations between the presence of total VEGFA transcripts and immunogenes in primary human breast cancer samples from a cohort of patients with breast cancer (the Uppsala cohort) (Miller et al., 2005). The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is breast carcinoma.
