The above studies, together with the observation that escitalopram had more robust excitatory effects on HF-evoked responses than vortioxetine (e.g., escitalopram decreased the onset latency of HF-evoked spikes whereas vortioxetine was without effect), indicate that augmentation of vHC-msNAc pathway excitability through local vHC mechanisms may be less important than facilitatory effects of 5-HT in the msNAc or related brain regions. This evidence concerns the gene HTR5A and hydrops fetalis.
