In children without CF there were significant inverse correlations between ASL pH and total cell count (r = −0.61, p = 0.01) and macrophage count (r = −0.56, p = 0.03) but not neutrophil count (r = 0.06, p = 0.83) or IL-8 levels (r = 0.21, p = 0.43).
