Gap-junction endocytosis of Cx43 was associated with disruption of functional contact between cardiomyocytes and, as consequence, resulted in disruption of the coordinated spread of electrical activation, which was associated with the loss of mechanical and electrical coupling of cardiomyocytes [47, 48], arrhythmia and cardiac dysfunction [49, 50]. Here, GJA1 is linked to cardiac arrhythmia.
