Among the two growth states with predicted active cell cycle activity (attractors S1 and S2 in figure 2), one seems to represent growth factor-stimulated proliferation, characterized by active FGF, HGF, IGF, EGF signalling, consistent with epithelia-to-mesenchymal transition and endoderm organ formation (attractor S1 in figure 2) [41], while the other appears more typical of CRC: active Wnt pathway [42], high expression of Runx1 and osteopontin [43].
