Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by joint inflammation where the diagnosis is based on joint involvement, duration of symptoms, serology (i.e., rheumatoid factor, anticitrullinated protein antibody), and biology (i.e., erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein) [126, 127]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
