More recently, we identified a subgroup of stage III melanoma patients, i.e. patients with 2–3 positive lymph nodes, whose clinical behaviour is influenced by the expression of the anti-apoptotic BAG3 protein in lymph node metastasis, suggesting that BAG3 staining on lymph node biopsies could therefore contribute to patient's prognosis and stratification for specific therapeutic approaches [11]. The gene discussed is BAG3; the disease is melanoma.
