To assess the involvement of the innate immune pathways (Toll, Imd, and Jak/Stat) in regulating A. aegypti’s permissiveness to ZIKV infection, we used an RNA-mediated gene silencing approach to activate each of the pathways by depleting pathway-specific negative regulators of the Rock strain before feeding mosquitoes on ZIKV-infected blood. Here, SOAT1 is linked to Zika virus infectious disease.
