As such, the ENO1 and BAG1 genes, which are well known to be expressed distinctively in the bradyzoite stage during the chronic phase of infection (Pittman et al., 2014), were highly enriched in the repressive mark H3K9me3 but they were also unexpectedly enriched in the gene activation hallmark H3K14ac (Figure 10a and Figure 10—figure supplement 1a).
