While activating mutations of K57 in MAP2K1 are known to play a role in the development of resistance towards EGFR‐targeted treatments (Bertotti et al, 2015), to our knowledge, MERTK was so far only shown to be up‐regulated on the mRNA level in pancreatic cancer cell lines resistant towards the MEK1/2 inhibitor selumetinib (Beech & Kelly, 2014). This evidence concerns the gene MERTK and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
