Elevated expression of CAIX was observed after transfection of HeLa and SiHA cervical cancer cells with the miR-34a inhibitor, which increased the migratory abilities of these cells through the inhibition of the microRNA–mRNA (miR-34a with 3′-UTR containing allele C of CA9 SNP rs1048638) duplex interaction. This evidence concerns the gene CA9 and cervical cancer.
