CYP1A1 and cancer: Several studies have reported that resveratrol inhibits the expression of a number of cytochrome P450 genes, including CYP1A1, CYP1B1, CYP1A2, CYP2E1, CYP2C8, CYP3A, and aromatase (CYP19) in cancer cell lines of different tissue origin in humans and other mammals, and also inhibits the catalytic activities of several of these CYPs, and it has been suggested that these inhibitions may underlie some of the cancer chemopreventive activity of this compound [49–53].
