Possible explanations for these discrepant findings may be that, firstly, we assessed KLK10 mRNA and not protein levels in tumor tissue; and secondly, our cohort only included patients with advanced stage (FIGO stage III/IV), high-grade serous ovarian cancer, while the cohorts analyzed in the two studies by Luo et al. [13, 41] consisted of mixed ovarian cancer subtypes, which of today’s knowledge may not be compared [47]. This evidence concerns the gene KLK10 and ovarian cancer.
