A role of potassium channels in aortic contraction in experimental preeclampsia may be in line with previous studies from our lab in the same model, in which we found an increased effect of EDHF and a decreased effect of prostaglandins in endothelial acetylcholine induced vasodilation in the aorta of preeclamptic rats vs. the aorta of healthy pregnant rats15. The gene discussed is KCNA3; the disease is preeclampsia.
