TREM1 and neoplasm: While we could not absolutely quantitate differences in tumor infiltrates between the Trem1+/+ or Trem1−/− group (in Trem1+/+ mice, tumors had to be pooled as they were too numerous for separate analyses, in Trem1−/− mice, tumors were so small and scarce that they were pooled into a single sample in order to acquire sufficient cells), an increased abundance of neutrophils in Trem1+/+ as opposed to Trem1−/− tumors was also strongly suggested by NanoString- and qRT-PCR-based gene expression profiling of individual tumors.
