IFNG and infection: Experiments with co-culture of human Vγ9/Vδ2 T cells isolated from healthy donors with the THP-1 human monocyte cell line infected with F. tularensis has demonstrated the ability of Vγ9/Vδ2 T cells to recognize infection, to produce a whole range of cytokines and chemokines (including IL-1β, IL-6, and IFN-γ, but not IL-10), and to limit bacterial proliferation in the culture (Rowland et al., 2012).
