Although re‐expression of TCF21 in melanoma cells and Caki‐1 ccRCC cells has been described to activate expression of the metastatic suppressor KISS1 (Arab et al., 2011; Zhang et al., 2012), in the current study KISS1 expression does not seem to be involved in the suppressed migration of 786‐O cells transfected with TCF21. It would also be of value to explore several recently identified TCF21 targets expressed in renal tubules such as IL6R, SH2B3, and SMG6 and interrogate their contribution to phenotypic differences (Sazonova et al., 2015). The gene discussed is SH2B3; the disease is melanoma.
