Recently, moderate reduction of PTH (from 441 to 327 pg/ml) with cinacalcet (10 mg/kg/day) for 12 weeks in the adenine-model of CKD was reported to attenuate the endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition in rat kidneys [10], one of the mechanisms for myofibroblast accumulation in renal fibrogenesis [3, 41]. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and chronic kidney disease.
