The analyses were repeated in a separate material of triple negative breast carcinomas, where we could verify that the cytoplasmic as opposed to the nuclear localization of securin in the cancer cells indicated a survival difference among the patients, a finding providing support to the interpretation that PTTG1IP participates in the regulation of securin activity by controlling its subcellular location. The gene discussed is PTTG1IP; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
