On the basis of the known protein functions [91–99], increased ubiquitination of all the affected proteins in the Cyp46a1-/- brain could relate, directly or indirectly, to the observed cognitive deficits in Cyp46a1-/- mice; of course, the precise effect (if any) of this post-translational modification on the Cyp46a1-/- brain needs to be further investigated.
