Mitochondrial fission or fusion dysfunction deregulates key cellular processes, potentially contributing to tumorigenesis.16 We previously reported that Drp1-dependent mitochondrial fission is critical for breast cancer cell invasion.17 As breast cancer metastasis is a highly complex process regulated by many factors, we reason that there may be additional factors participating in mitochondrial dynamics that regulate breast cancer metastasis. Here, DNM1L is linked to breast carcinoma.
