Further investigation demonstrated that over-expression of MEG3 promotes apoptotic cell death and induces G2/M cell cycle arrest in cervical cancer (HeLa) and retinoblastoma (C33A) derived cell lines [49] through the decrease of CDK1 (cyclin-dependent Kinase 1) and CCNB1 (cyclin B1) levels [49, 63].
