In cattle, anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia is induced by a deletion in the ED1 (anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia) gene [13], and polled and multisystemic syndrome is caused by a deletion that knocks out the ZEB2 (zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 2) gene [14]. The gene discussed is EDA; the disease is ectodermal dysplasia syndrome.
