TFR2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: We observed that in our population of MO women, hepatic hepcidin expression was significantly higher in patients with NAFLD than in those with normal liver histology, and the same pattern was observed for the expression of important up-stream regulators of hepcidin expression, including transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1) and 2 (TfR2) and ferroportin 1 (FPN1).
