The proximal promoter of the LIPC gene contains 4 polymorphic sites (-250 G/A, -514 C/T, -710 T/C, and -763 A/G) in complete linkage disequilibrium.11 The most frequently studied SNP is the -514 C/T, which has been linked to a low LH activity and high concentrations of HDL-C.12 The lower HL activity and higher levels of HDL-C, associated with the -514 C/T variant, may at least theoretically result in a lower risk of CAD. This evidence concerns the gene LIPC and coronary artery disorder.
