Importantly, the concentrations at which LPS activates TRPV4 (above 3 μg ml−1) are compatible with those used in experimental models of LPS-induced airway inflammation (e.g., 250 μg ml−130 and 500 μg ml−131 and very recently in a study on the protective role of LPS against allergy to house dust mite, ranging 2–20 μg ml−16). The gene discussed is TRPV4; the disease is allergic disease.
