INS and diabetes mellitus: Interestingly, the measurement of proinsulin/c-peptide ratio at the end of the intervention period indicated that this variable was higher in the group of subjects that became diabetics during the post intervention follow-up period than in subjects that remained free of diabetes during the same period (30.4 ± 31.8 vs. 17.2 ± 25.9 × 10−3, p < 0.05).
