Our data suggest that higher HCaRG levels in normal tissue around the tumors could favor controlled cell proliferation and differentiation, thus inhibiting tumor growth and that the screening for HCaRG expression levels and somatic mutations of HCaRG not only in ccRCC but also in normal tissues could be a marker for renal cancerization, progression and prognosis of ccRCC. This evidence concerns the gene COMMD5 and renal carcinoma.
