FGF1 and neuronal tumor: FGF1 is highly expressed in central and peripheral nervous systems and is involved in neural development.1, 8, 9, 10 FGF1 neurotrophic and anti-apoptotic activities are well documented both in vitro and in vivo.3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 However, the mechanism of action of the FGF1 anti-apoptotic activity is far from being fully elucidated and the putative role of FGF1 in the progression and chemoresistance of neuronal tumors remains to be characterized.
