The term “metabolic endotoxemia” was coined because of increased lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels in the circulation in metabolic diseases [31], in which LPS combines with LPS binding protein (LBP) and then binds to themonocyte differentiation antigen(CD14)-TLR-4complex triggering an inflammatory reaction and insulin resistance [32,33,34]. This evidence concerns the gene LBP and Insulin resistance.
